Ratan Tata’s favorite Altroz.ev may be launched soon, was first revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show

Tata Motors, one of the most active brands in India’s EV segment, is now preparing to introduce its popular hatchback Altroz in an electric avatar. This is the same car that Ratan Tata himself showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and is also considered his personal choice.

Why was the Altroz.ev plan halted?

The Altroz.ev was first introduced as a concept in 2019 and 2020, but the delay in production was due to the technical challenge of battery packing. Tata Motors had difficulty fitting the battery under the floor of the car, which would either have to reduce the ground clearance or affect the stability of the car. This was the reason why the plan for Altroz.ev had to be postponed for some time.

What is the new plan now?

Now Tata Motors has decided to develop the Altroz.ev on the Punch.ev’s Acti.ev platform. This platform is more flexible for battery packing and has the facility to accommodate larger battery packs. Punch.ev will also be introduced on the same updated platform with the facelift.

Design and Features

The exterior design of the Altroz.ev will be similar to the recently launched Altroz facelift, which will see new LED headlamps, flush door handles and connected LED tail lamps. Also, it will include EV-friendly closed grille and unique alloy wheels, which will make its electric avatar even more attractive. Its interior will be a great integration of modern technology with light colors, which will make this car firmly establish its place in the category of a premium electric hatchback.
