A shocking incident has come to light in Vedkhedi village of Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, where a Muslim youth was confusing people by begging by wearing saffron clothes and posing as a Hindu. The youth told his name as Sonu Upadhyay, but when the locals got suspicious and his documents were checked, his real name turned out to be Shahzad, who is a resident of Thana Bhawan town.
After the incident, people caught him and handed him over to the police. Swami Yashveer Maharaj expressed anger over the matter and called it religious fraud and preparation for a possible crime. He feared that this could be part of a big conspiracy or recce and demanded strict action in such cases.
Shamli police has taken the youth into custody and started investigation. ASP Santosh Kumar Singh said that the video has gone viral on social media and Jhinjhana police station has been instructed to conduct a fair investigation. Police is also investigating whether the youth was involved in any illegal activity.
Religious sentiments have been hurt by this incident and strong reactions are being seen on social media. The administration is being demanded to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents.
