For the past few months, the biggest impact on the household budget has been the price of LPG cylinders, due to which especially the middle class and low income group families had to face difficulties every month. But with the beginning of August 2025, the government has given a big relief to the general public. According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Petroleum, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders across the country have been reduced by ₹ 115 to ₹ 125.
There are many important reasons behind this reduction – fall in crude oil prices in the international market, complaints of domestic inflation, upcoming festive season and policy to give relief to the public in the election year. This decision has brought direct relief to common housewives, retired elderly, single mothers and small businessmen.
The new rates have come into effect from August 1, 2025. For example, the price of LPG cylinder in Delhi has come down from ₹ 1,103 to ₹ 985, in Mumbai from ₹ 1,121 to ₹ 999, in Kolkata from ₹ 1,129 to ₹ 1,009 and in Chennai from ₹ 1,118 to ₹ 998. Similarly, cities like Lucknow, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bhopal have also recorded a reduction of ₹ 117 to ₹ 122.
This change will not only balance the kitchen budget but will also have a light impact on people’s pockets during the festive season. The government has also clarified that the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana will continue to get subsidy, which will further increase the relief.
